Real Madrid's manager, Carlo Ancelotti, has outlined his plans for next season's attack, surprisingly excluding one of football's rising stars.
Fresh from winning La Liga and the Champions League, Real Madrid added Kylian Mbappe to their squad after his contract with PSG ended. With Mbappe, Jude Bellingham, and Vinicius Jr. leading the charge, Real Madrid now boasts one of the world's most exciting front lines.
Exciting New Lineup
Ancelotti discussed his strategy on the Obi One Podcast, hosted by former Chelsea player John Obi Mikel. He stated, "I see Mbappe playing up front. Our attack covers the entire 68-meter width of the pitch. Vinicius didn’t always play as a left winger last season; he moved around."
He emphasized the importance of player mobility, saying, "Bellingham sometimes played on the left, sometimes in the middle, and sometimes on the right. Rodrygo often started on the right but played on the left too. Mobility is key. I want to give them freedom to manage the game. We aren’t worried about where Mbappe will play; it’s about movement up front."
Overlooking a Rising Star?
Ancelotti's comments raised eyebrows as he did not mention Endrick, a young forward who joined Real Madrid from Palmeiras for £60 million in 2022. Endrick, already a Brazilian international, played in the Copa America alongside Vinicius Jr. and Rodrygo.
At just 18, Endrick has time to make his mark at Real Madrid. However, it remains uncertain how much he will feature in Ancelotti's plans in the upcoming season.
