1. Ace


An ace is a term reserved for an exceptional serve that results in an immediate point scored by the server.


2. Deuce


When the game score is tied at 40-40, it's known as a deuce. Subsequent points decide the advantage.


3. Smash


A powerful overhead shot typically executed close to the net is called a smash. It's feared for its speed and force.

When a served ball lands outside the intended service box, it's considered a fault. Players get a second serve attempt.


5. Let


If a served ball hits the net but still lands in the correct service box, it's known as a let, and the serve is retaken.

1. Rally


A sequence of shots exchanged between players without a point being scored is called a rally, showcasing skill and endurance.


2. Drop Shot


A delicately placed shot just over the net, intended to catch opponents off guard, is known as a drop shot.


3. Break Point


A crucial moment in a game where the receiving player has the opportunity to win the game from the serving player's advantage is termed a break point.


4. Lob


A high-arcing shot made over the opponent's head, forcing them to retreat towards the baseline, is referred to as a lob.


5. Crosscourt


A shot hit diagonally from one corner of the court to the opposite side is termed a crosscourt shot, utilized strategically to change the direction of play.

1. Set


A set refers to a sequence of games played, typically won by the first player or pair to secure six games.


2. Tiebreak


When the game score reaches 6-6, a tiebreak is played to determine the winner of the set, with the first player to reach seven points earning victory.


3. Double Fault


Should a player serve two consecutive faults, it results in a double fault, leading to a point for the opponent.


4. Love


Scoring zero points in a game is indicated as "love" - a term believed to originate from the French word "l'oeuf," meaning egg.


5. Net Cord


When the ball clips the net during a shot but still lands within bounds, it's known as a net cord, often sparking debates on sportsmanship.
